Center for breeding and rehabilitation of sea turtles in Banya, Nessebar Municipality opened to visitors, Bourgas, Burgas
On
September 10, 2010 from 15.00 hours, the Centre for breeding and
rehabilitation of sea turtles Foundation Gea Chelonia officially opened
visitor section. Furthermore,
it can obtain information on both tortoises found in Bulgaria -
shipobedrena and Hermann, the visitor can directly observe them in
special enclosures in conditions close to natural. The center is located in Nessebar Banya, 6 km from Irakli.
Visitor
Center was built under the project "Conservation of tortoises and their
habitats in the eastern part of Stara Planina Eminska through direct
conservation measures, development of sustainable ecotourism in the
Municipality of Nessebar and promotion activities, funded by the Small
Grants Programme of Global Environment Fund
to implement the Science-oriented approach in the development of
ecotourism and environmental education to help raise awareness on the
conservation of both wild turtles and to help understand the economic
benefits of the welfare of biodiversity.
